You absolutely need to use Olaplex and be extremely careful not to leave the lightener on for too long. I always send my client home with Matrix So Silver purple shampoo and Goldwell Rich Repair 60 Second Treatment.

This look is A LOT of work to maintain, so if you love being in the salon this is perfect for you. To get an icy tone of blonde it takes time. This look is ideal for a young person who wants something trendy and modern.
What’s your best tip for someone who’s considering this look?
Invest in good products and be patient! This look took us over seven months to perfect. Her natural color is six levels darker and it can be a damaging service if done wrong. Always use a bond builder such as Olaplex. The most important thing is to listen to your stylist. It’s so important not to rush this service!

How would you describe this look and what’s your favorite thing about it?
I would describe this look as a fun textured bob. My favorite thing about it is the versatility. This bob can be worn straight, curled, up or down, and always looks good!
Which products would you recommend to help create and maintain this look?
To create this look, you need to be blonde first, then add Directions hair dyes in apple green, midnight blue and ebony for depth in the colors! These colors will need touching up every two to six weeks. I recommend less washing with a sulphate-free shampoo in lukewarm water. Try using less direct heat from styling and use dry shampoo on in between days to increase the longevity of the color!
What type of person would this look work best for?
This type of look definitely works best on the more adventurous and creative types, and those that aren’t afraid of the extra attention that comes with having fun colored hair! I feel that almost any face shape can pull off this bob, but I personally like the blunter, straight edged cut with my round face to balance it out.
With my pale skin, I feel I can pull off almost any color of hair I like, but these darker turquoise greens work well with any skin tone. This look is definitely more suited to those who have freedom in their jobs. Any profession that lets a person express their creativity will love this look.

My best tip for someone considering this look is to not be afraid of it, it’s just hair! If you’ve always wanted to try it, then just go for it. This is a disconnected undercut pixie haircut with fashion colors by Pulp Riot. My favorite thing about it is the metallic purple root shadow and the fact that the sides are super short and disconnected from the long fringe.

This cut has two things that need addressing with products. First, to maintain the color I recommend using Davine’s Alchemist silver shampoo and conditioner. That will keep the blonde color that silvery lavender while conditioning the hair, maintaining the vibrant dark metallic purple root shadow, and not stripping the color. Second, this cut has a lot of texture, so I recommend a good pastre to show that off as well. I like Davine’s Invisible Serum to give shine and piecey texture.
What type of person would this look work best for?
I think this cut looks great on most all face shapes, but I think it’s best on a square or heart shaped face. It’s great for the heart shaped face because the longer side bang helps balance out a short forehead.
As far as skin tone, since it has cool/metallic/ashy tones, it’ll work best on someone who has cool undertones. Someone with blue or green eyes this will compliment this best. I think this type of cut works best on someone who wants/needs super low maintenance hair. The color will take more maintenance and financial commitment as far as upkeep in the salon. However being that it is short, it will be easier to change the fashion colors more often than a long haired client.

This look is a modern shag. My favorite thing about it is that it looks good on anyone! It’s a sexy, lived-in, tousled look that anyone can rock.

I recommend Oribe Texture Spray, Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray or Don’t Blow Out, and R & Co Chiffon Styling Mousse.
On straight/wavy hair, I use a salt spray like Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray or R +Co Chiffon Styling Mousse. Put in the hair when it’s wet, twist hair in sections, then let it air dry or dry with blow dryer on low so it creates textured look.
For very wavy/curly hair, I use Bumble and Bumble Don’t Blow Out. It is a little heavier cream. Twist hair in sections to create waves so that when it drys it looks messy beachy waves. Oribe Texture Spray is a MUST! I spray it in hair once it’s dry to create texture.
If you want more finished look, you can use 1-inch curling iron to create waves. Just leave the ends out so it looks more messy and lived-in. Finish with a spray of Oribe Texture Spray.

How would you describe this look and what’s your favorite thing about it?
This is a soft but bold style with a mature twist. My favorite thing about this look is how multidimensional it is. One day it can be styled more textured and fun, and the next day sleek and straight.
Which products would you recommend to help create and maintain this look?
For this specific textured look, I highly recommend using a salt spray. I use Rockaway Salt Spray from R+Co hair. You don’t need much of it and it gives you that beachy grit you need without going crunchy. Throw it in wet first.
Before I used a flat iron, I used Damage.Manager from Kevin Murphy to protect it from the heat. Once the hair was dry, I topped up some pieces with half turns while leaving the ends out for a more relaxed feel. Spray some more Rockaway, tousle, and voila! To maintain this cut, I suggest getting a trim every six weeks.
What type of person would this look work best for?
This look would work best for someone with medium to fine hair. There are no layers with this length, so it helps someone with finer hair look fuller! You can have some natural wave, but a lot of curl will take more time, so make sure you consider if you’re ready for that commitment if you do have those waves. If your hair is too thick, this is going to take a lot of styling time and it will be harder to achieve that “effortless” look.
You can definitely have any hair color or skin tone for this cut and style, but I suggest having some dimension in your color to show off the texture. Your lifestyle can be professional or laid back, that is what’s so great about this look. The short length and style is fun and beachy, but it can totally pass for a day at the office. This look is it is ideal for a longer, heart or diamond face shape. Too round or too square will accent those areas you usually want to disguise right at your jaw. But if you have the confidence and want to rock something new, then do it!
What’s your best tip for someone who’s considering this look?
My best tip for someone considering this look is DON’T TRY TOO HARD. I have so many clients that cannot get that effortless look because they are obsessing too much on each strand and making it too curly. Not every strand needs to look the same when using the flat iron to wave. Just think “clamp, twist, pull, let go. REPEAT”. Once you tousle the hair at the end, it will all come together.

This is a total “ice queen” look. My favorite thing is the shine!
Which products would you recommend for this look?
For products I would recommend Schwarzkopf Extra Power Lightener with 30 volume, although the developer strength would depend on the client’s natural level as well as hair texture and overall health. I used Fiberplex Bond Builder in my lightener, shampooed with Fanola No Yellow shampoo, toned with Schwarzkopf vibrance 9-1 and 9.5-1 with 1.9% developer, and finished with the Fiberplex #2.
For styling I used Unite 7 Second leave-in conditioner and AgaveOil. After drying, I finished with Bed Head After Party for smoothing .
Which skin tones and hair types can pull off this color/style combo best?
People who are a natural blonde or have a cool complexion typically pull this look off best. However, if done right, most people can wear this in some way when it is customized for them!
What is your best tip in regards to recreating/maintaining this color/style?
I always get my bleach out clients to come in on a four to seven week appointment schedule, depending on how fast their hair grows as well as how dark their natural color is. If they come in too early, you risk overlapping and breakage. If they wait too long, you will likely end up with banding as the hair closest to the root will lift faster.

This is a chic layered bob with a piecey fringe. Some of my favorite things about it are the visible texture and the way the graduation creates a feminine head shape.

I used a cream-based smoothing product to blow it out and a styling fiber paste to show off the texture. Hairspray helps too!
What type of person would this look work best for?
I think that this would work best one someone who has medium to thick hair. Layering fine or curly hair could take out a little too much weight. She happens to have a heart shaped face which the fringe helps balance, but I might not put a bang on somebody who has a round face shape.

How would you describe this look and what’s your favorite thing about it?
This is a vintage-inspired, riot girl, grungy blonde shag. Amanda is both an elementary teacher and a singer and bass player in a rock band, so she needs to look awesome and professional doing both things.
The tone is very Hitchcock blonde. I love that it has an edge but but is tasteful, contemporary and flattering. It’s not interesting at the expense of my client. Amanda is trying to grow her hair out, and I love that it doesn’t look like that’s what’s going on. Your hair should always have shape and style when it’s growing out, otherwise it can feel frumpy, and it can become way too tempting to impulsively cut it off.
Which products would you recommend to help create and maintain this look?
Amanda’s hair is very fine and flat, but can be dry and fragile at the same time. I used an Uberliss treatment mixed with my lightener to keep her hair in optimum condition during her color process. After her color and cut, I styled exclusively with R+Co (which is my favorite product line) using One Prep to even out porosity and make her hair easy to detangle, and High Dive mixed with Park Ave (my favorite smooth blowout cocktail) before blowing it dry using both a vent and flat brush.
I worked against the growth patterns for 60% of the blow dry to neutralize growth patterns and give it extra body, then blow dried it into the end shape. I finished with Badlands Dry Shampoo Paste to bring out the texture of the cut, and give her hair a natural bed head, lived-in texture. You could also put in a texture cream and let this air dry. My clients are very low maintenance, so the cut must be able to stand on its own.
What type of person would this look work best for?
Platinum is a high maintenance color that requires touch ups and toning on a regular basis to keep it looking great. A little dark root can actually look very rad, but if you wait too long in between touch ups it gets expensive and hard to keep the color consistent.
Platinum hair is not for the faint of heart, but works surprisingly well on a variety of hair types and complexions. It can be soft or punky depending on the person, and even though it’s a current trend, it’s timeless. Making it work largely has to do with getting the level and tonality just right, as well as having having an honest and experienced hairdresser that will give you reasonable expectations and not compromise your hair’s integrity. Excessively damaged hair doesn’t hold color or styling well, so keeping your hair healthy, moisturized, and freshly trimmed is a must for beautiful hair.
As far as the cut goes, this is ideal for fine to medium hair with a wavy to straight texture because it will lay right with minimal styling, but could be modified to fit a variety of hair types. It could also be fantastic on curlier hair if it’s not too dense. This type of style is extremely low maintenance and can work on a variety of face shapes. I would modify the layers, length or fringe depending on my client’s features, keeping things square, rounded or triangular depending on what I want to accentuate about their individual look. The bangs and layers accentuate the features they are sitting at, so it’s important to take that into consideration.
What’s your best tip for someone who’s considering this look?
Always consult and work with a confident, honest, versatile, and expert hairdresser, and then trust their vision. The color is high maintenance, but the cut is not at all, so think about how much or little time you want to commit to your hair.

This is a heavily textured asymmetrical pixie with a side-swept, short-to-long fringe. The back is graduated into a “V” shape. My favorite thing about it is the texture and the fringe! I love feathered hair.

I love Ruezel Grooming Tonic as a prep before blow drying. It gives the hair grip and lift, is easy to use, and it smells fantastic. I blow dried the hair using my fingers in an upwards direction where I wanted to enhance the lift and texture (crown into top of head), and in a downwards direction where I wanted smoothness (fringe and sides). To finish, I used a Davines Texture Dust from the crown through the top to enhance lift, and a touch of Davines Moulding Clay to define points in the texture.
What type of person would this look work best for?
Straight or wavy hair would work best for this cut. If someone has curly hair, it is possible to recreate, but would require straightening daily. Medium to high density is required for this look, and a medium to light, or dimensional color will help the showcase the texture. Besides a little time styling in the morning with right products, it would be an easy-to-manage style for anyone. It can also be worn smooth and less edgy if you had to tone down the look from time to time, but I would say you have to like funky hair to love this cut.
What’s your best tip for someone who’s considering this look?
Consult with your stylist if this will be a big change for you. See if you have the right type of hair for this look, and ensure you are armed with the right styling products at hand to make this look easy to maintain. Then go for it!

How would you describe this look and what’s your favorite thing about it?
I would describe this look as a groomed beach wave. It’s soft and playful, yet smooth and polished. My favorite thing about it is it’s simplicity and versatility. It takes about ten minutes to style and is an acceptable look for the office or a night on the town.
Which products would you recommend to help create and maintain this look?
I always begin with a thermal protectant, and for this look I chose Kerastase Ciment Thermique because it is lightweight, yet very strengthening. Before drying the hair, I also added a couple pumps of Kerastase L’incroyable Blowdry which is a reshapable heat lotion that will help to keep your look for up to 72 hours, or help to change it (hence, “reshapable”). After blow drying smooth, I then targeted just the mid strands of the hair with a 1-inch curling iron. To finish, I sprayed a mist of Shu Uemura Sheer Laquer, followed by Shu Uemura Texture Wave.
What type of person would this look work best for?
Because this groomed beach wave look is so versatile, I think just about anyone can work it. For coarse hair, it’s an easy way to quickly tame and smooth down the hair while still keeping some body. For fine hair, it’s a quick way to add some ‘oomph’. I think this is a look that can show some spunk while not overdoing it. And best of all, this is a fabulous way to work that second day hair when you’re reaching for the dry shampoo!
What’s your best tip for someone who’s considering this look?
My tip for anyone considering this look is to get to know your curling iron/wand/flat iron, w whatever you prefer to curl with. Pay attention to the direction you are spinning the iron (away from the face is most flattering), and practice curling just that midsection while leaving the ends out. Lastly, don’t forget to comb through those curls with your fingers and add some texture spray!

This client has massively thick hair with tons of texture, and given the chance, it loves to become big and unruly. To manage this I would recommend a blow dry lotion like Bumble & bumble’s Repair Blow Dry. For finer hair or for those that are going the other way and trying to add volume, B&B’s All Style Blow Dry will work wonders while also providing the necessary control for this look.
Which skin tones and hair types can pull off this color/style combo best?
This cut can be done with all hair types, however the ideal candidate would be someone with medium thickness and straight to slightly wavy texture. The deep rich brown and cool colored secret panel look the most complimentary on someone with olive undertones in their skin.
What is your best tip in regards to recreating/maintaining this color/style?
Make sure the cut is properly done and blended. Don’t be afraid to cut the back short and go for a very dramatic angle in the front. That’s what makes this look so fun! Also, wherever you decide to put the accent color panel, be sure that it will enhance the shape of the cut and not distract from the beautiful lines. Use diagonal slices when foiling so that the colors blend together instead of laying in stripes.

Keep your hair as healthy as possible and avoid too much heat styling. This look requires a lot of highlighting that can compromise the hair. My favorite product for maintaining healthy hair is Olaplex 3 once a week. It’s also a great way to strengthen the hair prior to a salon visit.

I like to think of this as a modern bombshell layered cut. This look is cut with sexy layers for volume and movement, with medium length bangs that frame the face. I love how it flatters most face shapes.

The best products to use would be a blowout balm like Super Shine or Imperial Blow Out from Oribe for shine, hold and heat protection. After round brushing for some curve, I ran Brilliantine from Bumble and bumble through the dry ends to break things up and piece it out a bit.

This look is a warm copper to blonde balayage. My favorite thing about this look is that we embraced her natural “red” hair by keeping her natural base.

To create this look I recommend using a lower volume developer with your favorite bond builder/multiplier. I used 30 volume developer with Wella Blondor lightener and b3 Brazilian Bond Builder. I did not have to tone her hair because we wanted to embrace her warmer tones.

How would you describe this look and what’s your favorite thing about it?
This is a very relaxed spring/summer hairstyle. My favorite part is the “barely there” waves which give an effortless yet fashionable look. These waves are very quick and achieved by taking random sections of hair, curling them leaving out the ends, then separating the curls with your fingers. To add a little height, take two sections from the front, gently backcomb them, then tie them in a knot and secure with hair pins.
Which products would you recommend to help create and maintain this look?
To help protect the hair I used a Tresemme Heat Protector Spray. This is a must when using heated products. I also used L’Oréal Pro Hairspray after curling. To finish off the look, run a small amount of Moroccan Argan Oil through the curls to give them a little shine.
What type of person would this look work best for?
This style is great on any hair type and because you’re only curling half of your hair, so it’s possible on short hair and long hair. If you have bangs, try texturizing them using a sea salt spray. This look works well for a day at the beach, a summer walk, and even a music festival! If you’re feeling brave, pick some fresh flowers and pop them in the top section for a cute boho look.
What’s your best tip for someone who’s considering this look?
Try this look on unwashed hair, that way your curls will last longer and appear fuller. Also try to pick random sections as opposed to a structured section technique The end result will look effortless and gorgeous at the same time!

This French braid mohawk was done on mid-length hair, and the rest curled with waving tongs. My favorite thing about this style is that it works on all ages of women, and it shows interest with color placement!

This is a layered pixie cut. The fringe ties the entire look together. I cut her fringe using a freehand technique that promoted movement toward her right side by slide cutting her hair from short to long.

This look is beachy, tousled, and sexy. It is definitely “California girl” hair! My favorite thing about this style is even though she’s a bright blonde, this color is still pretty low maintenance. She comes in about every three months for a touch up.

Creating this look is easy! I took a 1 1/2-inch curling iron and starting taking different size sections and wrapping the hair around to get a wave that isn’t so uniform. Then I used my favorite texture spray by Unite and messed it up a bit for that textured, tousled look. It’s also super important to keep your hair healthy by using a good moisturizing conditioner, and I always recommend Olaplex step 3 to my clients to take home! It makes a huge difference.
What type of person would this look work best for?
This look can really work on almost anyone looking to be lighter in color overall, but you just may just need to tweak a few things depending on your hair type. For example, if you’re naturally a dark brunette you can totally have the same style of babylights, but instead of pale blonde, tone it down to more of a caramel color. This way you still get a nice, natural-looking blend and it will still be a low maintenance color. This style is for someone who wants an effortless look!
What’s your best tip for someone who’s considering this look?
Depending on your hair, be prepared to sit in the salon for a few hours! Babylights are time consuming to do. Proper home care is so so important. As a stylist, we want your hair to look great for as long as possible so sometimes that deep conditioner when checking out is worth the purchase, I promise!

How would you describe this look and what’s your favorite thing about it?
This look is romantic and effortless. It is easy to recreate and even gives a boho vibe! I love the loose and almost undone look about it.

For this look, I used and recommend some clip-in extensions. When you have highlighted, balayaged or multi-toned hair, I recommend alternating between light and dark extension pieces to keep it looking natural and consistent throughout the braid. To prep for the extension to last all night, I’ll tease and spritz on the Resin Spray from Big Sexy Hair. It works like magic to create a strong base for the clip to slip into and hold all night long.
After you put your extensions in, lightly spritz each section with a workable hairspray. Making sure to curl the extension with your hair to help them blend together. Then you braid and make sure to pull it apart as you go to keep the look loose. Finish by spraying all over with a good strong hold finishing spray.

This look would be great for almost anyone who likes the sweet, romantic, boho, or girl-on the-go look! I love it with all colors and most textures. If you’re using extensions, make sure build a good stop base for the clips to sit in. It makes everything so much easier knowing the hair isn’t going anywhere. I would recommend always using a blow dryer with bangs like these. Sometimes I will let them air dry first, and then hit them quickly with the blow dryer just to add some movement. This is also what I do on second day styling for a little refresh. I don’t always use a round brush, but if you’re needing to manipulate your bangs to go in a certain direction (or away from a certain direction), you might need to try one.
